I recently had to pull a tooth which had deteriorated quite badly under a very old crown. I had heard quite a few horror stories about painful experiences, so I decided to prepare several plasma treatments for myself before setting off for the dentist. It was a large molar, which I knew meant a large root and big hole left in the gum.

I froze several lots of CO2 plasma water as ice cubes and made myself some strong small patches with CO2 and copper GaNS which I could fix to my face with a plaster. I also made some copper liquid plasma that I added a touch of salt to to use as a mouth rinse.

The dentist had a hard time with one of the roots which had broken off and took an hour of grinding to eventually give me the all clear for total extraction. By the time I left there my face was already beginning to swell up. I did fill up and use the prescription for the antibiotics, as I know our mouths are the dirtiest part of us with all sorts of bacteria, but I only took one pain tablet as soon as I was home, and never needed another one.

I used the plasma ice packs immediately and kept those going for several hours. I rotated keeping one GaNS patch in the freezer and one on my face to keep the patches cool.As I went to bed that night, I stuck the small patch with CO2 and Copper to my face directly over the area. Luckily I work on the farm and at home, so I could leave the patch on for 2 days before having to take it off to go out in public.  I used the patch every night and left it off during the day, as I had an expo to attend that weekend.

After that first day I never felt any pain at all.

I did feel a slight tingling a few times similar to the feeling when the anesthetic wears off. The worst part of the whole thing was the mouth ulcer at the front of my mouth where the rubbing from the dentist working on my mouth flared up and the crack in the corner of my lip from keeping my mouth open for so long. Two very small prices to pay for what could have been a much worse experience.

After one week my gum was perfectly healed.

The funniest was when the dentist phoned up 24 hrs after I had the extraction. Standard procedure I suppose, to check up on the patient. After spending an hour digging in my jaw, I’m sure he was expecting moans and groans. I told him I was great, no pain, no problem, and I could hear the slight disbelief in his voice. I told him one day I would share the secret with him.
